Ethel Martinez, shop owner of Ate Ethel’s Fond Memories, is a 2nd Generation Filipino-American and currently resides in Yorba Linda, CA with her husband and two kids.

Ethel is a professional graphic designer by day, but loves working on her Filipino-themed designs by night.

Strongly inspired by her parents and her imaginative youth, Ethel wants to tell her story and how she remembered the Philippines through art.  She’s also hoping that her Filipino customers get that sense of nostalgia or a “gunita” when they see her designs.

“Gunita” – The Tagalog word for “remembering” or “sense of nostalgia”

She understands that although many Filipinos work hard and cannot be home in the Philippines, she hopes that her designs will bring them joy when they’re feeling homesick.
